Partying, drinking alcohol and using dating apps is probably not the first thing that comes to one’s mind when thinking about Iran – as the country is known for its seemingly strict rules which regulate coexistence in society as well as on the internet. But in particular young people in bigger cities like Tehran strive for a more western lifestyle that includes throwing underground parties.

For this episode we invited Keivan from Teheran to talk with us about how young people in Iran deal with all the rules? What is forbidden by law and which role does social acceptance play in public spaces? And are the needs and desires of young urban people also applicable to the rest of Iran?
